The Town of Valdese is happy to announce the season lineup for Family Friday Nights!

Family Friday Nights in Valdese will begin on May 24th with a special season kickoff featuring the band, OUTSHYNE. “We are so excited for this year’s Family Friday Nights Summer Concert Series. We have shortened our season to offer even bigger events with even better bands,” states Morrissa Angi, Community Affairs Director for the Town of Valdese. “The season will bring back local favorites and will also debut many new talents. We are excited to celebrate the summer!”

Kicking off the summer series this year will be OUTSHYNE on Friday, May 24th at 7:00pm located in the Wells Fargo/Town Parking lot. With around ten years together, OUTSHYNE, has seen nearly half a million road miles. Influenced by music favorites Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Jones, Eric Church, Keith Urban, and Jason Aldean, they have played some of the best venues and biggest festivals in the U.S. such as "Taste of Country" in New York and CMAfest in Nashville along with many others. They have had a #1 on Sirius/XM the Highway with "Moonlight Crush". They have shared the stage with Jake Owen, Keith Urban, Darius Rucker, Neal McCoy, Colt Ford, Corey Smith and Gary Allan just to name a few. Hailing from South Carolina, OUTSHYNE’s first single "Dirt Road Romance", written by friends Florida Georgia Line and Arlis Albritton, went to #29 on the Music Row Chart and #46 on the Billboard Indicator Chart. The album titled "Starting Over" was produced by Grammy nominated Chip Matthews and hit song writer Jeffrey Steele, and debuted #11 on iTunes the day it was released. The bands second single "Moonlight Crush" hit #1 on Sirius XM’s The Highway Countdown and also was the stations #18 song of 2014. The two singles combined have over 100,000 downloads and over 1 million YouTube views.

The Valdese summer will feature two major weekend celebrations with the Main Stage located at the corner of Main Street and Rodoret Street. The first being on June 28th as Valdese celebrates our Nation’s Independence with a night of music by Little Johnny Trailer Trash, Valdese famous Fireworks and concluding with an extra special performance by On the Border, the Ultimate Eagle’s Tribute. The second major celebration of the summer is the 44th Annual Waldensian Festival on August 9th & 10th. Festival Friday night will kick off the weekend-long celebration with a trip to the 80’s with Cassette Rewind followed by a flash back to 90’s with Gump Fiction. Festival Saturday night will feature beach music legend, Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot. The Valdese Family Friday Nights Summer Concert Series will continue every Friday night through August 30th when it will conclude with a grand finale by beach favorite The Tim Clark Band.

Concessions will be for sale during the concert series and different civic groups will offer 50/50 raffles every Friday. Season lineup cards will be available for pick up at the concession trailer. Myra’s classic and antique car show will be held at 6pm each Friday.
