The Alexander County Library will continue their new companion program for literary arts with an open mic event for writers. “Poetry After Hours” is held in conjunction with each Main Library art exhibit, providing an opportunity for local and regional poets or writers of short stories.

Writers of all ages are welcome to read from their original works or to read selections from their favorite authors. Each participant will be given up to three minutes to share their work in this open mic style format. No registration is required to participate – everyone is welcome and the event is free for all to attend.

The event will feature a coffee house theme with flavored coffees and light refreshments. Acclaimed local musician and singer, Allison Hager, will share her talents as a part of the evening's festivities. Poetry After Hours is free for everyone to attend and enjoy.
