Every year Cornell University�s Lab of Ornithology and the Audubon Society host the Great Backyard Bird Count�a four day event that engages bird watchers of all ages, anywhere in the world in counting species of birds. Scientists use the GBBC information, along with observations from other citizen-science projects to get the �big picture� about what is happening to bird populations. It can help scientists learn more about birds in general, such as their migration routes, bird diseases, and other important information. We will be participating in the program this year at Rocky Face Park. We will be meeting at the Park Office and taking a hike to view some of the birds found at the park. This will be a 2 mile moderate hike. Bring binoculars, wear sturdy shoes, dress warm, and bring water! Registration is required
