In observance of National Youth Art Month, The Hiddenite Center�s Lucas Mansion Gallery will feature the Local Artist Competition and Exhibit Youth Division during the month of March 2015. National Youth Art Month is observed annually in March with the mission of emphasizing the value of art education for all youth and to encourage support for quality school art programs.

The Local Artist Competition youth division is open to grades K-12. Alexander County residents and art students enrolled in an Alexander County art class during 2014-2015 are eligible for the competition. Students in surrounding counties are welcome to submit works to be exhibited but are not eligible for competition and prizes.

Due to the expansion of this annual exhibit and competition, each participant is able to submit a maximum of four pieces. Artists are asked to submit current works completed in 2014 � 2015. All media is accepted for the youth divisions.

The deadline for entry in the youth division of the Local Artist Competition is February 21st (extended due to weather), 2015 by 3:00pm. Work submitted after the designated date and time will not be accepted for the competition. All work should be submitted to The Hiddenite Center�s Lucas Mansion
