The Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center is set to begin a new summer session of classes for the popular Alexander Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) program.
The summer session begins Tuesday, June 14th. Held at the Centers Educational Complex. Alexander JAM meets weekly on Tuesdays from 4pm 5pm. Classes are open to students ages 8 -12. Cost for the 6-week session is $30. Registration is required and may be made by calling.
The summer session of Alexander JAM will offer classes for beginning students interested in learning traditional string band music on guitar, banjo, and fiddle. Some instruments will be available for student loan on a first come first served basis.
JAM is an after-school program for children in grades 4 8 and beyond that introduces music through small group instruction on instruments common to the Appalachian region, such as fiddle, banjo and guitar. Each JAM program is individually operated and funded. Alexander JAM is sponsored by the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center and is directed by Chad Ritchie.
