Recycled Tin Collage Workshop

Public Event

Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015

The Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Centers current Emerging Artists Wall exhibitor, Thomas Graham, will teach the art of recycled tin can collage during a workshop on Saturday, August 15th. Registration is $30 for the public and $25 for Center members with a $5 materials fee for all participants. Class space is limited and interested participants are asked to call (828) 632-6966 to register for the workshop.

Graham will teach basic techniques in tin can collage as students create a finished piece, either of their own design or based on a dragonfly pattern chosen by the instructor. Participants are asked to bring printed or painted tin cans ( cookie tins, olive oil cans, popcorn or coffee tins, etc.), a hammer, needle nose pliers, tin snips, a can opener, and a pair of work gloves. The instructor will provide a precut piece of 3/4 finish grade plywood to use as a canvas, plenty of 5/8 brads (tiny nails), some already flattened tin and the simple tool that makes it work.

Thomas Grahams one-of-a-kind collage images will be on display at the Centers Lucas Mansion through August 31st.
