On Saturday, August 16, 2014, The Hiddenite Center will host a unique scrapbooking event known as a �Crop.� Scrapbook and paper crafting enthusiasts will gather at The Hiddenite Center�s Educational Complex (70 Hiddenite Church Road in Alexander County) for a full day of scraping fun beginning at 8:00am and ending at 6:00pm. Each Crop participant will be responsible for bringing his or her own scrapbooking materials. The Hiddenite Center will provide ample table space, a catered breakfast of coffee, juice, and pastries, and a delicious croissant sandwich lunch.

This scrapbooking retreat offers participants an opportunity to fellowship with and learn from fellow scrapbookers while providing plenty of space and time to become immersed in the joys of creating special scrapbook layouts and projects. Participants who may not have a home workspace or craft room will enjoy the opportunity to spread out their materials, work alone or in groups, and devote their undivided attention to the art of scrapbooking.

Sponsored by a local group of scrapbookers known as �The Scrap Squad,� the Crop was organized as a fundraiser to support The Hiddenite Center�s ongoing arts and cultural heritage programs. Cost for the entire day of scrapbooking fun with breakfast, lunch, and tax included is only $35 for the public and only $30 for Hiddenite Center members. Registration is required and may be made by calling (828) 632-6966. Early registration is encouraged, as Crop space is limited to 30 participants.
