Senior Adult Day Luncheon

Public Event

Tuesday, Sep. 23, 2014

In conjunction with their Celebration of the Arts festival, The Hiddenite Center will hold their annual Celebration Senior Adult Day Luncheon on Tuesday, September 23, 2014.

The luncheon will feature entertainment from the Catawba Valley New Horizons Band, which is a community band comprised of adults and senior adults who play a variety of orchestra and big band style instruments. The program will be held at the Centers Educational Complex (70 Hiddenite Church Road) starting at 10:00am and will feature a delicious lunch, musical entertainment, games, and fellowship.

Cost for attending is only $8 per person with tax included. Reservations for this event are required and may be made by calling (828) 632-6966. Guests of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend this special program honoring senior adults.

After the luncheon, guests are encouraged to visit The Hiddenite Centers Lucas Mansion (316 Hiddenite Church Road) to view their current art gallery exhibit by Alexander County artist Chad Alley and photographer Clayton Joe Young of Davidson. Their exhibit, entitled, "Raise Me Up: Barns, Quilts, and Communities, features Alley's series of drawings that capture the barns and quilt panels featured in The Hiddenite Center's Alexander County Barn Quilt Project along with Young's series of photographs that highlight mountain culture and Western NC communities. Guests may also tour the Hiddenite Centers turn of the 20th Century museum and enjoy their exhibited collections of antique dolls, toys, gems, and minerals. The Lucas Mansion Gallery and collections are self-guided and are admission free. Guided tours of the museum are $4.00 each for adults and $3.00 each for senior adults. Each year, the Hiddenite Center offers special performing arts events during the week leading up to their Annual Celebration of the Arts festival. The 33rd Annual Hiddenite Center Celebration of the Arts is a free admission, one of a kind arts and cultural heritage street festival, which is held each year on the fourth Saturday in September on Hiddenite Church Road in Alexander County from 9am 4pm.
