The Hiddenite Center will present an original musical play entitled �Soldiers in Gray� by Iredell County playwright, actor, and musician, Stan Clardy. Although Soldiers in Gray has delighted audiences with more than 250 performances nationally, The Hiddenite Center�s dinner theater production marks the first time that this moving play has been offered in Alexander County. Reservations are now available for the Saturday, July 12th performance, which begins at 7:00pm and is held at The Hiddenite Center�s Educational Complex (70 Hiddenite Church Road).

Cost for a delicious meal of BBQ chicken, baked beans, slaw, and apple pie with theater performance and tax included is $16 per person. Reservations may be made by calling (828) 632-6966.

Clardy�s �Soldiers in Gray� represents one man�s vision of those who fought during the American Civil War. This unique storytelling experience combines original music and narrative based on many letters and facts of the period before, during and after the Civil War. Encouragement from family and friends prompted Stan Clardy to follow his passion for Civil War history and write songs for the emerging project. As the songs begin to develop, Clardy quickly discovered that a larger story needed to be told. As a result, the idea for the play was formed.

Since the debut of the play in 1998, Stan and his wife, Cathy, have travelled extensively performing Soldiers in Gray, along with other music and book programs for groups and festivals.
